Since the demise of WKLQ in 2009, WGRD has been west Michigan's go-to station for hard rock music.

Traditionally, WGRD is an active rock station. Most AR stations focus on bands from the early 90s onward such as Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Rage Against the Machine and Volbeat. If any classic rock is played, usually it's bands that appeal to most modern rock fans such as AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and Motley Crue.

So the question is, why in the fucking hell is GRD now playing shitty 1970s arena rock all the sudden?

You've heard it. Over the Labor Day weekend, GRD has been sprinkling in butt rock again. This time, it's from Billy Squier, ZZ Top and probably the most-cringeworthy of all, Kansas' severely-irritating "Carry On Wayward Son".

The sad thing is that I have GRD on my radio alarm clock and I wake up at 4:30 in the morning. If I hear the first few notes of "Wayward Son" at exactly that time, I swear that I'll have a heart attack.

This isn't the first time GRD added more butt rock to their playlist; on Memorial Day weekend, they were playing some of those same bands. After the dust was settled, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix were all regular additions to the station.

So, why the deuce is GRD playing more classics? Is it because of WLAV still dominating them in the ratings? Is it because their owners, Townsquare, don't give two shits about how a radio station is run?

One thing is for certain, GRD now sounds worse than KLQ when the late Darren Arriens or the late Michael Grey was programming the station. If I listen to a rock station and I hear Highly Suspect into Boston, I'm changing the station. But then again, thank God my car stereo has Bluetooth so I can listen to Pandora. If I don't like it, I can skip it. Same with others switching over to Sirius, Spotify and others. Terrestrial radio is dead in this town and the fact that Townsquare, iHeartMedia and Cumulus own 90% of all the radio stations in this town is sadder than sad. Hasn't GRD learned from what killed KLQ, nor do they care? There's already two other stations in town that play the shit out of Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Foreigner and Kansas. We don't need our town's active rock station to be the third.

But remember, this is terrestrial radio. They don't give a fuck.
