8.17.17 Bee-otch of the Day: George W. Bush

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

Name: George W. Bush
Age: 71
Occupation: painter
Last Seen: Texas
Bee-otched For: another Isis tragedy

--

Another day, another tragedy.

In Barcelona today, a van slammed into a group of people, killing 13 and injuring 100. And yes, Isis is claiming responsibility.

Ya know, this is the problem: how many times does Isis need to rear its ugly head? What's sad is that we go over there to attack Iraq over oil and what happens next? That country becomes a parking lot and it's worse off than ever before.

With Drumpf in charge, will North Korea become a rogue nation and will want to cream America even more? Who knows? But every time a Repuke is in charge of America, this is what happens. We once thought that Osama was our pal, but in the end, no more World Trade Center. Hell, Saddam even had the key to Detroit at one point.

Terrorism is everywhere, sadly, and it's here in America thanks to white supremacists and the KKK. Just look at Charlottesville. Look at what happened this week here in Grand Rapids when some asshole was nice enough to put a swastika on an American flag and drape it on an overpass.

The sad thing is that in the end, you look at George W. Bush and all the bullshit he started in Iraq and look at him now, sitting on his ass painting pictures of wounded soldiers. These same soldiers came back home with PTSD and other diseases. What's laughable is that his barslut daughter, Jenna is a reporter for NBC and she did some heartfelt story on soldiers on Sunday Today this week. Yes, I changed the channel.

This is one huge reason why I don't vote Republican. You want healthcare, good jobs and a good way of life? Vote Democrat. Want war, the rich getting richer and poverty? The Repukes are for you.

Oh! Don't forget terrorism!

8.15.17 Bee-otch of the Day: Donald Trump

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

-------

Name: Donald Trump
Age: 71

Bee-otched For: not being a man of peace

--

After the horrific violence that plagued Charlottesville, VA on Saturday, you might think that our president would help to bring peace.

But nope! Instead, he's pointing fingers.

Today, Drumpf decided to hold a press conference from his little glass castle in New York City. He talked to reporters about the riots in Virginia and told them that BOTH the alt-right and alt-left were the reasons for the riots. He even told a reporter that since this was all over a statue of Robert E. Lee, that maybe statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson - who also owned slaves - be torn down too.

OK, a few things: for one, Drumpf blaming a group of people who didn't do a damn thing wrong shows that he doesn't give a damn about the liberals. It was an alt-right loser who rammed his car into a group of people, not a leftist. The left didn't do anything wrong except bring peace to the sick, disgusting protest to preserve a sick part of American history.

Another thing is that true, Washington and Jefferson were slave owners, but guess what? These people were from a time when it was fashionable. Americans would go to Africa, kidnap a bunch of black folk and drag them across Atlantic waters kicking and screaming. However, we started accepting blacks as equal citizens, but even today, some treat them like shit because they think they're all assholes. Then again, some don't like whites themselves because of the same thing. It's a debate that's been going on forever. I doubt if most people care about Washington and Jefferson's slave ownership.

Sadly, we're stuck with a president who could care less about anybody whose IQ is over room temperature. It was the alt-right and KKK supporters who brought him in and an outdated system dating back to the days of slavery that got him in. But as long as he's president, all we can do is duck and cover.

All I can say to my fellow lefties right now is watch out for cars.

Name: Donald Trump

Bee-otched For: proving to be a real fake

These are some scary times in Charlottesville, VA.

On Saturday, an alt-right group was protesting the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee when a group decided to counter-protest them. The two sides clashed, and things got disastrous when a 20-year-old asshole from the Toledo area rammed his Dodge Charger into a crowd, injuring more than a dozen people and killing a young woman, 32-year-old Heather Heyer.

Shortly after the incident, Drumpf made a loony tune speech condemning the attacks but refused to name the groups involved. However, earlier today he named the KKK, white supremacist groups and neo-nazis in a second speech. You know, the assholes who elected him in the first place?

Since his election as president, the nation's love of far-right hate groups has risen, probably because many of these same assholes' voices were ignored in the eight years of prosperity under Obama. But thanks to the bullying of Bernie Sanders from the DNC and a flawed electoral college, congratulations! We have de facto president Drumpf.

Thanks to Drumpf, there's businesses that won't serve blacks because why? Because they think that since he's in charge, it's OK to hate. Now, we have towns that have had these fucked up riots or near-riots like up in Kalkaska here in Michigan where the asshole mayor uses his eyesore property downtown to promote Drumpf and attack minorities. Sadly, what has happened in Charlottesville - pop. 48,000 - is proof that hatred is what has made this country the laughing stock of the world. It's pathetic that anybody would drive all the way from Toledump all the way to Virginia in what was a nice Dodge Charger to kill innocent people. Sadly, I think there's no way to get to these people. Why they hate people who aren't of their own color is probably due to them seeing one person of a different race mistreat them, so they're all bad. Maybe it's how society perceives others. Who knows?

But as long as Drumpf is our de facto leader, this will sadly continue.

For millions of kids and teens here in America, they're the most-depressing three words known to mankind: Back to School.

It's that time of year when parents drag their kids to the stores to do their yearly back-to-school shopping. And one of those stores is none other than Walmart. But sadly, one location is giving kids the wrong idea.

The image above is making its rounds around the internet with a banner with the saying "own the school year like a hero" over a gun display.

Nothing like Walmart telling your kids that they can be heroes just like the shooters of Columbine, Sandy Hook and other school disasters that we all want to forget. But hey, this is Walmart we're talking about here.

Walmart has apologized for the incident; they claim that it might have been a location in Indiana but retracted it. They are now looking for the location where the display was held.

You know, this is what happens when you pay your employees shit wages, give them piss poor benefits and a lack of hours to work, even barring them from working overtime while the Walton family rake in billions. The employees develop a sick sense of humor and do shit like this.

This is one of the major reasons why I won't shop at Walmart. They are a sick, sad company that thinks they have morals but they're out there to destroy America. Thankfully, there's Amazon.com, but some wonder if that company is even more evil. But hey, unlike Walmart, they actually sell everything you need whereas Walmart sells only the edited versons of albums and won't sell certain things because of their views and politics. But guns? Hey, they're A-OK!

Walmart: always a bright company. Always.

Right now, I think REM is going to profit dearly off their 1987 hit "It's the End of the World As We Know It (and I Feel Fine)".

Why? Because it might as well be the end of the world as we know it, and we're not that all fine.

North Korean dictator Kim Jung-un is telling people that he's prepped to strike a missile at Guam, the western-most region of the US. And what is Drumpf to do?

Sadly, this is what happens when we allow a businessman to run our country. He gets an oilman to be Secretary of State and chances are, we might begin yet another expensive war where gas prices will rise severely, spiking another recession.

Meanwhile, the FBI raided his campaign chairman Paul Manafort's home last month, looking for evidence surrounding the de facto president's relations with Russia. With more and more evidence mounting surrounding Drumpf's campaign and lies to the country, we might be calling Mike Pence president real soon, like it or not.

Hopefully, Kim Jung-un will be dropping a bomb on Drumpf's career.

8.8.17 Bee-otch of the Day: northern Michigan radio

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

Name: northern Michigan radio
Age: various
Occupation: supposed entertainers and informers of the public
Last Seen: Traverse City, Petoskey, Cadillac, etc.
Bee-otched For: showing signs of deterioration
--
For the first time in several years, fans of northern Michigan radio are seeing the most-complete Nielsen ratings.

Throughout most of the 2000s, because one station owner decided not to buy the ratings book, the whole book was under embargo. In the past 15 years or so, northern Michigan has only been able to have access to a small handful of ratings books as a result. But since Nielsen has allowed us to see how subscribing stations are doing, plus the fact that Midwestern Broadcasting subscribes again (that's the WTCM/WCCW/Z93 people), we now know how most of northern Michigan radio stations are doing.

Except for Northern Broadcast's (WKLT/The Fox/ESPN 106.7/105.5) stations and that one station we shouldn't be mentioning on here because the owner hates my guts and theoretically, is in a whole lot of trouble right now.

Anyway, here it is:

WTCM-FM 12.2
106 KHQ and Rock 105 and 95-5: 4.9
WCCW-FM and WTCM-AM: 4.6
Big Country 102.9: 4.3
Lite 96: 4.1
The Bear: 2.9
Z93: 2.7
Bob FM: 2.2
96.7 The Bull: 1.6
Big Country Gold 1240/100.7: .5

Here's my thoughts:

*WTCM-FM is #1. No shock.

*The fact that NBI doesn't subscribe to Nielsen is a joke. I'd like to see how KLT stacks up to Rock 105/95-5 these days. Now that Omelette's gone, I'd imagine their ratings crashing. I've been told that KLT has lost a lot of sponsors and even some ad folks because of O-Man's dismissal.

*Speaking of Rock 105/95-5, it's proof that northern Michigan loves hard rock. With Shinedown's recent sell0ut at the Cherry Festival, it shows that Traverse City can support an active rock station. Twenty years ago, local radio up north - especially KLT - would never touch bands such as Tool, Rage Against the Machine, KoRn and Nine Inch Nails. Today, Rock 105/95-5 plays those bands and most other active rock bands. However, with Smitty's dismissal, I do wonder how they'll do in the Fall book.

*It's amazing that WTCM is the only AM station that has significant ratings. Then again, it's the only talker on the list.

*The Bear's at a 2.9. I guess Bob and Tom have seen better days.

*Z93 is KHQ's bitch and Bob FM's 2.2 is a head shaker. Maybe it's because of the fact that their slogan is "80s, 90s, Whatever" and they play a shit ton of 1970s butt rock.

However, the biggest surprise, IMHO is the fact that only a few years ago, KHQ was at a seven or eight share and now, they're a hair under a five. Ya know, the problem is this: I think a lot of northern Michiganders are simply switching over to satellite and internet radio. Thanks to us having smartphones and car stereos with auxiliary jacks and Bluetooth, northern Michigan radio has gotta compete and they simply don't know how to. Most radio station playlists are white bread and repetitive and in the case with KHQ and Z93, they tend to avoid anything having to do with rhythmic music a lot of the time.

But as for NBI, let's remember why they don't like Nielsen, and it's because of the infamous Todd Nelson incident many years ago where he sent fake diaries to make 106.7 (then WSRT) look good. In the end, he and his wife were fired and WSRT eventually became ESPN Up North.

The thing is, I think broadcasters need ratings to figure out if people ARE listening. I would hate to buy a product that doesn't work, so do advertisers want to buy a :30 spot on a station with less than a three share? There's several stations owned by the three subscribers that didn't make the ratings: WCCW-AM 1310, WMKT 1270 and Trish MacDonald Garber's Ticket stations were examples.

If I programmed a radio station, I would look at what successful stations were doing and follow their lead. Hell, I would be listening to Sirius and Pandora on a regular basis. People need to know what the listeners want, not what the bosses want.

When the third-most-popular station has only a 4.9 share, there's no excuse.

It was 200 days ago that Drumpf took the oath of the Oval Office in front of a 1/2 empty field in front of the US Capitol.

So, what has he done in 200 days? Well, I hear a lot of crickets chirping.

That's right, folks, Drumpf right now is golfing at his New Jersey estate. True, he thinks that there's not a whole lot to worry about now since the economy's still OK and Americans are gainfully employed, but remember, folks that Rome wasn't built in a day, but then again, it burned down in six days in 64 AD.

Let's face it: the dude's a liar, his proposed destruction of Obamacare was a bust and basically put, we're footing the bill for his golf trips. There's that part of me that wishes that term limits on the presidency were not allowed because who knows? Obama could have been the next FDR for all we knew. But thanks to the DNC's asskissing of Hillary over Sanders, we all lost when Drumpf got elected president.

Sadly, Drumpf's only served roughly 16% of his presidency and he's got 84% to go. Can we survive another 1,261 days of this lunatic? The only good news is that 2018 is around the corner and a little over a year from now, the House and Senate might be filled with Democrats again trying to reverse everything Drumpf wants to do. I hope that when the Repukes leave the White House, we'll get a true progressive leader that will get this country back in line with other civilized nations on Earth like Canada and England and not Russia.

If North Korea gets us like the Taliban did on 9/11, it's definitely gonna be Drumpf's fault.

8.3.17 Bee-otch of the Day: Jim Justice

Sometimes, you just can't trust who you vote for.

Tonight at a Drumpf rally in West Virginia, governor Jim Justice is expected to announce that he's leaving the Democratic party and will become a Republican. This is not the first time in history that Justice has switched parties; he was a Republican until 2015 but became a Democrat when he ran for governor.

So why is Justice making the switch supposedly? Well, look at it this way: he's wealthy. He owns coal mines, farms and lots of real estate. With Drumpf's smearing of environmental laws to create more jobs for the global warming-creating coal industry, it's natural that West Virginia's wealthiest man/governor would go back to the losing team.

Ya know, I hate it when somebody runs for public office and then they flip to the party people fought hard against. Drumpf won West Virginia simply because he campaigned hard there and promised voters that he would bring coal back. With the fact that he's making America a rogue nation by helping to create more pollution and pissing all over the Paris Accord, yeah, it makes perfect sense for Justice to flip parties. Hell, Drumpf himself was a Democrat at one point.

I think there's politicians that flip-flop their parties because they want to hold public office, plain and simple. They don't give a damn about their people, it's all about how they can change the laws for their own good. West Virginia is a VERY poor state and they should have realized that coal is dead and needed to stay dead. What's next? The rebirth of Betamax? How about the reopening of Radio Shack?

What some people will do for a job that only pays $150,000 per year.

Today, a record was made.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed over 22,000 for the first time ever in its history. Many are thanking a strong economy and low unemployment for making this a reality.

But the $64,000 Question is, how long will it last? And is it safe for one to proclaim this old phrase?

Yes, we have a lot to be thankful for right now: gas prices are nowhere near the $4 per gallon monstrosity we were paying ten years ago and food prices overall are lower. But sadly, the average American worker's wages have only gone up .5% in the past several years. As a matter of fact, the American minimum wage hasn't gone up since 2009.

So why haven't many Americans seen any type of wage increase? Simple: it's those damn Republicans who think that most who receive minimum wage are just teens and they claim that it'll hurt small businesses where the owner makes less than minimum wage. In fact, paying a higher wage would close the gap between the boss and his worker, especially in the case of major retailers like Walmart where the Walton family is worth over $20 billion a piece while their workers work for peanuts.

The truth is, Republicans don't care about the average American. Hell, look at Drumpf, who won because his supporters were gullible and voted for a man who lied to us about saving American jobs from moving to Mexico, only to all have them automated.

With the Repukes trying to fuck us all, I hope this will mark a rebirth next year. It's time to create a government For the People and by the people. the Repukes only work for the wealthy and methinks that by this time next year, everything that Obama worked for will be crashing extremely hard into the ground.

But hey! At least we now have an aircraft carrier named for Gerald Ford that costed us taxpayers $13 billion, right?

Last week, it was announced that another loud-mouthed wealthy pastor was going to be part of a superstar deal.

It was announced that Steven Furtick, lead pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC had signed a massive six-year, $110 million contract with Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church to create a superstar preaching team. Lakewood is located at what used to be the Summit Arena in Houston, TX and has a weekly attendance of 52,000 vs. Elevation's 25,000 souls.

But hold on, folks! It was only a fake news story.

Turns out that the source of the story was simply a satirical site called the Babylon Bee. Furtick even took to Twitter to tell his flock that it's all fake and that he's staying at Elevation, a Baptist megachurch he started 11 years ago.

The question is, could Lakewood have afforded to pay Furtick $18.3 million per year to scream and yell and slam his Bible on the pulpit? Consider this: Joel and Victoria Osteen are worth $56 million and live in a $10 million mansion paid for by his 501(c)3 ministry tax-free. He also got a lot of it from his father, the late John Osteen, who founded Lakewood in an abandoned feed store in 1959.

Sadly, the extravagant wealth of these mega-pastors is what pushed the Babylon Bee to publish this story regarding Furtick. Many of these preachers live in paid-for parsonages and get huge salaries simply by brainwashing the less fortunate into giving them huge wads of money. One reason why this hits hard for me is because this was a huge reason why my Dad and I left our old church, New Hope Community Church near Traverse City, MI. The pastor lived in a nice house, went on nice vacations and sent his kids to pricey schools. Yet, he begged his flock to donate $1.7 million to expand the church. For several weeks, it was the point of his sermon, so we quit.

Today, I go to a more-modest church here in Grand Rapids that's the near-opposite of most churches in town. They preach about saving the environment (the church, BTW is solar-powered), helping the homeless (during the summer, they lend their downstairs rooms to the homeless) and standing up for LGBTQ rights. Not to mention, my pastor - who is retiring next year - only makes a modest $66,000 per year as opposed to the millions most megapreachers make. Yet sadly, my Dad now wants me to leave this church because he thinks that I should join a singles ministry, which my church doesn't have. Yet when he was at New Hope's singles ministry, they would simply treat him like a child (one time at a place where there was dancing, they told the group not to dance, or totally ignore Ecclesiastes 3:4) and the woman he met in the singles ministry ended up cheating on him. Thanks, but I'd rather 1) stay at my left-leaning church and 2) swipe like most singles do anyway.

The point is, I avoid big churches because they simply use God to make money and too much of it. They use the most-gullible to make their bucks and live in a sea of wealth. I hope that - even though it's satire - that preachers will wake up and realize that wealth will only take away what's the true mission of a church.

It reminds me of a cartoon I saw on Facebook a few weeks ago: a group of people are lifting up a church while Jesus is left behind.
