The events preceding March 10, 2003 made for some sad days in radio.

It was when Cumulus Media announced that they were forcing all of their country stations to stop playing the music of the Dixie Chicks after Natalie Maines announced to crowd in London that they were ashamed to be from the same state as George W. Bush. It was nine days before the unwanted war in Iraq began, causing 4,000 US soldiers to be murdered plus the total destruction of that nation.

But fast forward 12 years later. Even though the Chicks haven't recorded an album since 2006 (the Grammy-winning Taking the Long Way, which sold well despite the lack of radio support), they still play to well-attended concert venues. But there's another good reason for the Chicks to smile: Cumulus' country stations - many of them branded "Nash FM" - are all tanking.

However, with President Obama in charge, it's pitiful to know that Cumulus - and other radio companies - don't have a problem with the likes of Ted Nugent and troubled Creed lead singer Scott Stapp, both of whom made headlines for threatening to kill the president.

Remember when the CIA investigated the Nuge for his "by next year, I'll be either dead or in jail" comment? That practically symbolized the fact that he wants to kill the man who has added nearly eight million jobs since entering the White House whereas his hero Dubya left the White House with over 700,000 less jobs and with a country struggling to stay afloat.

And guess what Cumulus-owned WLAV right here in Grand Rapids played at 10:35 AM on Friday? "Free For All".

That's right! The Dixie Chicks are bad for hating Bush, but the poopy-pants draft-dodging pedophile who wants to kill Obama and Hillary Clinton is A-OK.

What's even more sad is that he's an icon where I grew up in northern Michigan. I remember several months ago, he did a phone interview with the shitty afternoon show on WKLT and not too long later, he was doing another phoner on crosstown rival Q100. Northern Michigan has four rock stations, and sadly, only one doesn't play Ted's shitty music, and it's active rocker Rock 105, which coincidentally is the lowest-powered rock station up north at 43,000 watts with a meager signal in Traverse City.

Look, when Dubya was president, I never said that he needed to be assassinated. To me, that's un-American. What Ted's doing is sharing the same opinions as all the terrorists in the world. They hate freedom and apparently, so does Uncle Ted.

And WHY haven't I listened to terrestrial radio in years?
