Funny how some people use a man who healed the sick and fed the hungry to live a life that's opposite of his.
Texas seems to be a sad state when it comes to televangelists. One is John Hagee, the lead pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and the host of one of the most-popular shows on TBN and other religious channels. Hagee has used his pulpit to attack gays, Jews and now, the poor.
One one of his recent sermons, Hagee told his parishioners that God thinks that people on welfare should starve. He said that there's two types of people in America today: those who pay too much in taxes and those who get a "free ride" from welfare. “To those of you who are sick, to those of you who are elderly, to those of you who are disabled, we gladly support you, but o the healthy who can work but won’t work, get your nasty self off the couch and go get a job!”, he proclaimed. “The Bible says ‘The man who does not work, should not eat.’ I know the liberals hate that verse, but read it and weep! It’s God’s position.”
Nowhere does Hagee talks about Matthew 25:35 or Matthew 19:24. Maybe he hasn't gotten to those verses yet.
But, that's John Hagee for ya: an ugly, fat sloth who ain't perfect, either. An asshole who cheated on his first wife and married the woman whom he cheated with a year later. He's also a dickhead who begs people for money while he sits on his rich, fat ass while he blasts people on welfare.
Look, I have an uncle who (sadly) watches televangelists like Hagee all the time. He's almost 60, never been married, no kids and lives in a trailer. Several years ago, he lost his job of 17 years because of a management change. But yet, he was still giving money that wasn't his to televangelists and many - like myself - told him to stop. Anybody on TV who begs for money with an open Bible on their lap is not worthy of money, period, because they live a hypocritical lifestyle of vast wealth, even though that's what Matthew 19:24 was all about.
Many people on welfare can't work because they're lazy, it's because THEY CAN'T GET A JOB THAT PAYS THEIR BILLS. Look at Walmart: most of their employees make $8/hr. and only work 30-35 hours per week. Many of them have to get government assistance because they can't feed themselves on what they make. Hell, I had a girlfriend who has three college degrees and was working as a greeter at Meijer. Her resume's out there, but nobody wants to hire her. She even has to have a Bridge Card to help survive.
Personally, I think John Hagee is full of racist hatred. He sees a black person and thinks they're from hell. After all, he's been known to use racial slurs against Jews during his sermons. He's even attacked Catholics and others of various races and creeds.
Hagee even had heart surgery six years ago. I'll betcha that he's attacked Obamacare in his sermons. After all, he can afford a heart attack while the poor souls who kiss his oversized ass can't.
In the end, I think people need to realize that Hagee and all of his kin are bigger fakes than those you see on Jerry Springer. I'd rather give my money to a poor bum on the street over a televangelist any day. I think that's what God wants: pay it forward. giving your money to a bloated, fat pig in Texas only makes Jesus cry even more.
After all, Hagee's living off of taxpayers' money, too.
