HERO OF THE DAY!

Name: Pete Misiak
Age: was 57
Occupation: broadcaster
Last Seen: Detroit, MI
Awarded For: being a great voice of the Great Lakes

---

One of WJR Detroit's great voices has fallen silent forever.

Earlier in the week, fans of the legendary Detroit AM station were shocked when one of its newsmen, Pete Misiak, died suddenly due to a sudden illness. He was 57. Misiak had been at WJR for many years doing the station's hourly news updates while putting his focus also on his video production company.

But to those who lived in northern Michigan in the 80's and 90's like myself, he was one of the finest broadcasters on the air.

A native of Detroit, Misiak moved to Traverse City as a teen. After high school, he was a member of Fred Waring's Young Pennsylvanians. In the mid-80's, Misiak joined WPBN-TV 7&4, the market's NBC affiliate. He moved to radio in the 1990's as the newsman and sidekick to whoever was the morning man at WKLT. After being let go from KLT in the late 90's, he jumped over to WFQX Fox 33 as that station's lead news anchor and personality. Shortly thereafter, Misiak moved back to Detroit where he did hourly news updates at WJR.

At one point in my life, I knew Pete personally. In 1988, my mother and I went to his church and since I had an interest in broadcasting as a little boy, he invited my mom and I to 7&4 to watch their 6 p.m. newscast in person. The anchors were nice enough to take pictures with me, and one of the end results was the picture you see above. Yes, that little boy in the picture was me, age seven, with Pete to my left and the late, great Dave Walker above us two. They were two of the finest broadcasters in television, and they were taken from us too soon (Walker died a few years ago after a long battle with cancer).

I met Pete again a few years later when I was doing a school project where I had to shadow somebody doing their job. For me, it was being a DJ. I was able to sit in with Tim Murphy at WKLT where Pete was his sidekick and newsman. Pete and I had a nice chat, and it was also the day I learned that he was wearing a toupee all that time. Sadly, it was KLT that made my wishes of being a jock disappeared because of Murph's dismissal all because he trashed a sponsor, Arby's on the air while they were buying a small amount of ads at the same time. He was replaced with Jim Ellis, who was another jock who worked in a ton of big markets only to land in Traverse City because of hard times. I was told that Pete hated Jim because of his idiotic sense of humor and missed Tim. I couldn't agree more. I remember Jim trashing Howard Stern in a newspaper article, and yet he did something Ellis could never do: climb up the ladder in the broadcasting biz. As a matter of fact, Ellis worked at KLT twice before a heart attack killed him several years ago.

But yet, Pete climbed that ladder quite well. Even though I heard that he only did weekend updates at WJR at the end of his life (he was their nighttime anchor for a few years), at least he had his video business to fall back on. It's a shame that one of the nicest men in broadcasting had to leave us way too soon while there's a lot of jerks in the business these days.

Also, SHAME on the northern Michigan news media for not making Pete's death news. I think a lot of people up north would be shocked if they heard about his passing. Hell, I was the guy who posted on 7&4's Facebook page about Pete's passing and the station did say that they were thinking about his family. Good for them, but nothing on their website. Sad. Oh, well.

When I was in Kentucky last Thanksgiving, I was fortunate enough to snatch the photo album were the above picture was taken. I was looking at old albums with my Dad and decided that I needed to post some of the 7&4 pics online. When Pete's death was announced, I quickly remembered the one with me, Pete and Dave Walker. Man, it's amazing that I'm the only one still alive in that picture.

Grim Reaper, don't get any good ideas.

My thoughts are with Pete's family, friends and those who knew him personally. He'll always have a place in my heart and if I ever had a reason to get into broadcasting, he'd be one of the reasons. He'll definitely be missed.

You get what you pay for, folks.

I pay for Howard Stern and commercial-free music channels, not for Martha Stewart, Opie and Anthony, Jamie Foxx or even Dr. Laura.

And I definitely don't pay for Glenn Beck.

But sadly, now I am.

The satcaster added Glenn Beck's "TheBlaze" radio channel on Monday to their internet subscribers only and not their satellite service (FYI, I have Sirius internet only; I canceled my satellite subscription two years ago). The channel airs Beck's show, alongside a few no-namers. The Blaze also airs on Beck's website and on Clear Channel's iHeartRadio app.

For a while, I thought that Beck's star was fading, especially after his idiotic comments on Obama being a racist. Fox News Channel canned his show and Beck started using TheBlaze's video feed for his TV show. Hell, several radio stations - including WOR New York, which is now owned by Beck's syndicator Clear Channel - got rid of his show. But since he still has a wide audience and is part of CC's trifecta of doom that also features Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, he still has huge ratings.

However, I think there's a slightly good side to the dogstar wanting to carry Beck's network: what if Howard Stern were to leave the company? After all, it seems that he wants to work in TV full-time, plus the fact that there's that rumor that he might be taking over The Tonight Show once Jay Leno's contract is up. Personally, it would make a lot of sense for them to get Beck and maybe work on getting an exclusive contract to get Rush and maybe Hannity as well, but it would also alienate people like me who pay $15 per month for the service itself.

But, that's the thing: Sirius is working too hard to bring a diverse audience to its service, and it's not working. Say, aren't they supposed to have several channels devoted to minority-based programming as part of their deal with the FCC? Whatever happened to that? Instead, it's good 'ol Glenn Beck off his meds again.

Good thing I also have Slacker on my cell phone if all else fails.

It's the one thing many drivers hate seeing on the side of the road: eyesores.

There's a lot of them out there: broken-down buildings, graveside memorials, trash and signs that expose ideals that only provoke controversy.

Right now, there's two giant eyesores here in Grand Rapids on the freeway M-6 going west towards US-131, and they involve two semi trailers perched at a dairy farm. One reads "Obama's 'Mission Accomplished' 8% unemployment 16 trillion in debt" and another "Marxism/socialism = poverty & hunger".

The trailers are the property of Vern Verduin, a dairy farmer in Gaines Township. He usually uses the trailers to distribute hay to his cows, but decided one day to use them to express his political views. Now, the township board is citing him for the signs, which are more than 20 square feet, the limit for political signs for the township.

However, Verduin is crying First Amendment and is now lawyered up and claiming that the township is trying to censor his rights. Judge Steven Servaas is even skeptical that the sign that links Marxism to poverty is even a political sign at all.

The township will hear Verduin's case next week.

Look, I'm not against Vern Verduin putting up anything of any kind on his property. The thing is, comparing Obama to socialism and Marxism is just plain stupid. There's no evidence that Obama's either. Hell, comparing him to POVERTY is flat-out wrong. Ever since he took control of the White House, the economy's gotten bettter and people are finding jobs again.

Personally, I would do the same, but with Bush and his policies. It was HIM who led America into poverty with three wars and lies about 9/11. I'll betcha that VerDuin is just another asshole who wants that colored fella out of the White House, but he'll have to wait another four years. By then, maybe this nation will be anything but Marxist or impoverished.

Instead of putting up something like "Obama = poverty" or whatever, he should put a big, giant dunce cap on one of his barns.

3.25.13 Bee-otches of the Day: George W. Bush and Dick Cheney

Bee-otched For: a decade of decadence

It was 10 years ago last week that the most-pointless war in world history began.

The Iraq war began under the order of president Bush, which led us into one blunder after another. Thankfully, Bush was term limited out of office and under President Obama, many of Bush's mistakes have been cleared.

But, the damage has been done.

Last week, Iraq War veteran Tomas Young, 34, who is dying and living in hospice care wrote what might be his final letter ever, and it was dedicated to Bush and his co-hort, Dick Cheney.

--

To: George W. Bush and Dick Cheney
From: Tomas Young

I write this letter on the 10th anniversary of the Iraq War on behalf of my fellow Iraq War veterans. I write this letter on behalf of the 4,488 soldiers and Marines who died in Iraq. I write this letter on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of veterans who have been wounded and on behalf of those whose wounds, physical and psychological, have destroyed their lives. I am one of those gravely wounded. I was paralyzed in an insurgent ambush in 2004 in Sadr City. My life is coming to an end. I am living under hospice care.I write this letter on behalf of husbands and wives who have lost spouses, on behalf of children who have lost a parent, on behalf of the fathers and mothers who have lost sons and daughters and on behalf of those who care for the many thousands of my fellow veterans who have brain injuries. I write this letter on behalf of those veterans whose trauma and self-revulsion for what they have witnessed, endured and done in Iraq have led to suicide and on behalf of the active-duty soldiers and Marines who commit, on average, a suicide a day. I write this letter on behalf of the some 1 million Iraqi dead and on behalf of the countless Iraqi wounded. I write this letter on behalf of us all—the human detritus your war has left behind, those who will spend their lives in unending pain and grief.
I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done. You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans—my fellow veterans—whose future you stole.
Your positions of authority, your millions of dollars of personal wealth, your public relations consultants, your privilege and your power cannot mask the hollowness of your character. You sent us to fight and die in Iraq after you, Mr. Cheney, dodged the draft in Vietnam, and you, Mr. Bush, went AWOL from your National Guard unit. Your cowardice and selfishness were established decades ago. You were not willing to risk yourselves for our nation but you sent hundreds of thousands of young men and women to be sacrificed in a senseless war with no more thought than it takes to put out the garbage.
I joined the Army two days after the 9/11 attacks. I joined the Army because our country had been attacked. I wanted to strike back at those who had killed some 3,000 of my fellow citizens. I did not join the Army to go to Iraq, a country that had no part in the September 2001 attacks and did not pose a threat to its neighbors, much less to the United States. I did not join the Army to “liberate” Iraqis or to shut down mythical weapons-of-mass-destruction facilities or to implant what you cynically called “democracy” in Baghdad and the Middle East. I did not join the Army to rebuild Iraq, which at the time you told us could be paid for by Iraq’s oil revenues. Instead, this war has cost the United States over $3 trillion. I especially did not join the Army to carry out pre-emptive war. Pre-emptive war is illegal under international law. And as a soldier in Iraq I was, I now know, abetting your idiocy and your crimes. The Iraq War is the largest strategic blunder in U.S. history. It obliterated the balance of power in the Middle East. It installed a corrupt and brutal pro-Iranian government in Baghdad, one cemented in power through the use of torture, death squads and terror. And it has left Iran as the dominant force in the region. On every level—moral, strategic, military and economic—Iraq was a failure. And it was you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney, who started this war. It is you who should pay the consequences.
I would not be writing this letter if I had been wounded fighting in Afghanistan against those forces that carried out the attacks of 9/11. Had I been wounded there I would still be miserable because of my physical deterioration and imminent death, but I would at least have the comfort of knowing that my injuries were a consequence of my own decision to defend the country I love. I would not have to lie in my bed, my body filled with painkillers, my life ebbing away, and deal with the fact that hundreds of thousands of human beings, including children, including myself, were sacrificed by you for little more than the greed of oil companies, for your alliance with the oil sheiks in Saudi Arabia, and your insane visions of empire.
I have, like many other disabled veterans, suffered from the inadequate and often inept care provided by the Veterans Administration. I have, like many other disabled veterans, come to realize that our mental and physical wounds are of no interest to you, perhaps of no interest to any politician. We were used. We were betrayed. And we have been abandoned. You, Mr. Bush, make much pretense of being a Christian. But isn’t lying a sin? Isn’t murder a sin? Aren’t theft and selfish ambition sins? I am not a Christian. But I believe in the Christian ideal. I believe that what you do to the least of your brothers you finally do to yourself, to your own soul.
My day of reckoning is upon me. Yours will come. I hope you will be put on trial. But mostly I hope, for your sakes, that you find the moral courage to face what you have done to me and to many, many others who deserved to live. I hope that before your time on earth ends, as mine is now ending, you will find the strength of character to stand before the American public and the world, and in particular the Iraqi people, and beg for forgiveness.
--

I read this letter, and Mr. Young hit it on the head. Ever notice that we never hear from Bush? No appearance at the Republican National Convention or even Obama's second inaugural. Dubya is a coward and he should be ashamed for the record he left as president.

Thankfully, he'll be judged, like Tomas said. If it's not in a court of law, it will be under a court of God.

One more thing: could somebody please, please, PLEASE kick Jenna Hager in the stomach? We don't need another Bush.

A SPECIAL HERO OF THE DAY!

Name: Veronica De La Cruz
Age: 32
Occupation: NBC News anchor/reporter
Last Seen: New York City, NY
Awarded For: being given a new role in life
---

This past week was one of the happiest in Veronica De La Cruz's life.

Not too shabby for somebody who had one of the worst years in her life just a few years ago.

Veronica first gained notoriety in the early 2000's as an anchor on CNN, often shooting stories on a Flip cam and editing them on her Mac. VDLC was very innovative with her stories and how she shot them. She also often chatted with her fans using Facebook and Twitter (and I've been one of them; when I told her on Twitter a few years ago about a shooting rampage here in Grand Rapids, she told me to stay safe).

But despite her work as a serious journalist who often worked for - and with - the people, VDLC's life turned upside down in 2008 when she received the news that her younger brother and budding musician, Eric needed a heart transplant to stay alive. However, because of a pre-existing condition, his insurance company refused to cover the cost of the life-saving transplant. So Veronica stepped into action and created a grassroots campaign to save Eric's life. One of the people who heard about the De La Cruz family's dilemma was Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor, who helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to help Eric and others who needed the proper health insurance for the life-saving medicine they need.

Sadly, it was too little, too late. Eric De La Cruz died of heart failure in 2009 at the age of 27. Like many others who died at that youthful age who left their mark on music history - Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and so many others - Eric will be remembered for being a poster child for better healthcare for all Americans. And it was his older sis Veronica who spoke for him and eventually creating an organization in his memory: The Eric De La Cruz Hope For Hearts Foundation.

Since Eric's passing, Veronica's life has gotten a lot better. She now works for NBC News, often hosting their early morning news programs Early Today and First Look on cable sister MSNBC. And yes, the Affordable Health Care Act was passed, which she proudly supported.

But along with being a busy news anchor and president of a non-profit that helps those in need of good healthcare, Veronica has a new role: mother.

Last Wednesday, Veronica gave birth to a new baby boy. She announced her pregnancy a few months ago on Early Today while chatting with weather anchor Dylan Dreyer about food. VDLC responded that her baby loves Greek yogurt.

So far, Veronica and the new baby are doing fine. No word on who the babydaddy is.

We wish Ms. De La Cruz the best of luck and Mozel Tov.

3.20.12 Bee-otch of the Day: Pat Robertson

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

------------------

Name: Pat Robertson
Age: 82
Occupation: Satan
Last Seen: Virginia Beach, VA
Bee-otched For: going after the broke
---

Pat Robertson is the anti Robin Hood: he takes from the poor.

The long-time host of The 700 Club Monday told the story of a couple who went through bankruptcy because the wife's job as a real estate agent just wasn't bringing in the hot paychecks it once did during the late 2000's recession. The money was so bad that they were forced to downgrade their housing from a 4,700-square foot mansion to a tiny 1,000-square foot shack.

Then, the clouds lifted and God shined his light on the family all because of one thing: they gave $20 per month to Pat Robertson and CBN. Thanks to their love gifts every month, the couple is back to living in a mansion again.

After that story, Robertson pleaded to those who found their way into the poor house that if they did the same thing this couple did and gave him $20 per month, then God will do the same thing to them as they did to the once-bankrupt family.

Well, I have living proof that Robertson is full of shit. Case in point: one of my uncles. He's in his late 50's, single and never married. He lives in a trailer park just outside of Detroit. For many years, he worked at a popular auto dealership just down the road from his trailer as a courtesy driver and helper in the service department. However, a few years ago, management changed at the dealership, and he and his new boss got into an arguement. End result: he was fired after 17 years. He did get another job working at another dealership washing luxury cars, but ended up quitting that job. He learned long and hard that you just can't quit a job because then you cannot collect unemployment. He ended up going through his 401 (K) and his mother - my grandmother - had to help support him.

Shortly before he lost his job, he started giving heavily to televangelists, mainly to channels like TBN. I personally warned him about TBN and how they suck off the poor to feed their luxurious lifestyles, but it was in one ear and out the other. To him, it was all about pleasing Jesus. Yet, he was broke, living in a nasty old trailer with no job or family of his own. Then again, we're talking about a man who had severe drug problems in high school that screwed up his brain and caused him to not graduate until he was almost 20. Well, thankfully, he found a job stocking shelves at Meijer at just pennies over minimum wage and hardly any overtime, if any.

Yes, giving your money to the Lord through crooked televangelists like Pat Robertson is going to make you better as a person.

The point is, in the case of the family whose real estate business bellied up but rebounded, that's all because Bush term limited out of the White House and we got a president in who cares about the middle class. Americans are back to work and spending again, and that's why the housing market's back. It's not because these people gave to Pat Robertson. DUH!

If you want change, you change yourself. Giving money to a man who's already worth a billion dollars won't enhance your lifestyle, it makes it worse. If you're broke and actually have $20, use it to pay your debts, not give it to a billionaire. Besides, Pat Robertson is one of the most-wicked people on Earth by using God to feed his lifestyle, but yet if he read the book of Matthew, he would want to feed more hungry mouths.

Maybe he should use that money to bail out that couple.

Northern Michigan: where there's five rock stations, and none of them are playing the latest from popular artists like Alice in Chains, Deftones, Three Days Grace or even Papa Roach.

As I reported a few months ago, the north's only current-based rock station, Real Rock 105 and 95-5 had scaled back on their new rock and started playing more rock from the 1970's and 80's from bands such as Styx, Foreigner and even Journey.

The good news: it seems that Real Rock has shitcanned those geezer rockers and is now focused on playing rock from the 1990's to just recently. The bad news: I said "just recently" and not "new".
All year, Real Rock has not added any new rock to their playlist, and it makes me want to scratch my head. I checked their sister station, Big Country 102.9's playlist and they're playing currents, but not Real Rock.

Bear in mind that Real Rock's parent, Northern Star Broadcasting is spinning off two of their classic rock The Bear stations - 94.5 Mackinaw City and 93.9 Mio - to the owners of Tea Party talker 106.3 WYPV in Onaway in exchange for 106.3. The reason for the trade-off is so Del Reynolds - already the GM of the NSB stations - can legally own them.

So, why is Real Rock not spinning new tracks from their core artists? After all, that station's NSB's highest performing ratings-wise. I have a sad feeling that they could be a casualty if Reynolds takes over, but who knows? With many people in Real Rock's age demo 1) not living in northern Michigan and 2) already owning everything from smartphones playing internet radio to satellite receivers, anything could be possible.

And here's a scarier thought: KLT now plays more currents than Real Rock. Ugh....

Last weekend, the Conservative Political Action Conference was in full swing, and it resembled more like the Brooklyn Shake than anything else.

Of course, the main function for the CPAC is to try to sort out who could be the most-viable candidate for 2016, and Paul Ryan seemed to be the big winner. However, dear 'ol Sarah Palin had to arrive to tell the world that she could be Obama's best replacement for the White House in the next three years.

During her speech, the ex-Alaskan governor and hockey mom blasted President Obama on many occasions. When talking about gun rights, she talked about background checks, and mentioned that Obama should talk about his, referring to that sad conservative lie that he was born in Kenya, although there's way too much evidence that he was indeed born in Hawaii. Palin also sipped from a 7-Eleven Big Gulp, referencing to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's ban on huge, extra-large-sized portions of soda pop sold in the Big Apple.

Yep, there goes Sarah, who wasn't governor of Alaska for a long time and bombed at, well, everything else she's ever done in her miserable, pathetic life. I'll betcha that she wants to be president in 2016, but not with her record!

IMHO, the only Republican who could take the presidency easily is Chris Christie because he has proven to be a leader who listens to all sides, not his own. Of course, that's if he can make it to 2016 given his girth. Because most Repukes are anti-American making less than a million dollars per year, I think the party's toast.

And Sarah ain't helpin'.

Even though his work with one of rock's hardest bands was only limited to three albums, Clive Burr left us with a legacy of rememberable music.

Burr was only with 'Maiden for three years - 1979-1982 and three albums: self-titled, Killers and their breakthrough album, 1982's Number of the Beast which brought us two of the band's most popular tunes, the title cut and the song whose video's seen above, "Run to the Hills".

Without a doubt, 'Hills' was one of the most-important tunes in rock history, expressing concern for the plight of the Native American.

Burr left the band in 1982 over personal differences and their grueling tour schedule. He was replaced with their current long-time drummer, Nicko McBrain. IM lead singer Bruce Dickinson was quoted by saying that Burr was the band's best-ever drummer for his feel for the drums, although he said it to no offense to McBrain. After leaving 'Maiden, Burr joined several other bands with varying amounts of success. One band, Gogmagog, reunited him with original 'Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno.

However, in 1994, Burr was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and eventually ended up in a wheelchair. Treatment for MS left Burr deeply in debt, but thanks to many in the rock world such as his former bandmates in Iron Maiden, a trust fund was created to help Burr and others struggling with the disease. Iron Maiden held several charity concerts for Burr and there was even a "Clive Aid" which he attended.

Sadly, Clive's fight with the disease ended on Tuesday in his sleep. He was 56.

Thanks to people live Clive Burr, people now have a deeper understanding of the disease, and it's proof that even celebrities like himself can end up struggling financially because of it. Although his output with Iron Maiden was quite limited, he'll always be remembered for helping to give the band its signature sound that involves its fast style of drumming.

Devil horns in the air one more time. RIP Clive.

If you're a lover of sitcoms, these have been a sad few months.

It was announced a few months ago that Bonnie Franklin, the star of the 1970's program One Day at a Time was battling pancreatic cancer, which has a low rate of successful recovery. Sadly, the 69-year-old actress succumbed to the disease two weeks ago.

Only a week after Franklin's death, another 1970's sitcom star, Emmy-winning Valerie Harper who won those awards as the best friend of Mary Tyler Moore and on her own with her own spinoff Rhoda announced that she has a rare form of brain cancer and was given a three-month death sentence. So far, she's been quite upbeat about her diagnosis, appearing on many talk shows and interviews, saying that she's been taking her life one day at a time and still feels very healthy. Harper's condition might have stemmed from the fact that she fought - and defeated - lung cancer in 2009, a disease that only has a 25% survival rate.

Now, another sitcom figure has announced that he might be dying, too. Sam Simon, the producer of many TV shows such as The SimpsonsTaxi and The Drew Carey Show just announced that he's been battling colorectal cancer and says that he has only three to six months to live. Ironically, his production partner in The Simpsons, James L. Brooks also helped to create Rhoda, which also starred Julie Kavner, who played her sister, Brenda and yes, Marge Simpson.

It's also worth noting that Ms. Harper also starred in a recent episode of The Simpsons, playing a proctor of the Department of Standardized Testing.

It's always sad when anybody gets cancer, especially when it's somebody who helped us grow up. We all learned a lot from Ann Romero, Rhoda Morganstern and Mr. Simon, and it's always a sad shame knowing the pain all of them are going through. What's worse might be the fact that there's people out there who seem to not want to find the best cure for cancer, and many of them are the politicians who don't want medical marijuana or stem cells to create antibodies to fight cancer. Instead, they have people suffer. Personally, I think it's awesome that we have a president that's pushing us forward into helping to cure cancer and better more, providing us with the same healthcare these celebs have. Progress is a good thing.

But, even with the best healthcare, we've lost Bonnie Franklin, and Valerie and Sam could be not too far behind. Even in good health, cancer affects us all, and it's important that we see our doctors if something arises.

Together, we can fight this.

3.12.13 Bee-otch of the Day: Kwame Kilpatrick

Bee-otch of the Day honors are awarded Monday through Thursday, Bee-otch of the Week is awarded Friday on Chuck69.com.

Name: Kwame Kilpatrick
Age: 42
Occupation: jailbird
Last Seen: Detroit, MI
Bee-otched For: going to spend a lotta time behind bars

Looks like one of the most-corrupted mayors in American history is going to spend at least the next ten years behind bars.

Kwame Kilpatrick has been found guilty of racketeering; running a criminal empire while running the city of Detroit. The jury determined that the ex-mayor bribed and took kickbacks all in the expense of the city's taxpayers, 24 out of 30 charges.

Kilpatrck ran a very lavish life as Detroit mayor while helping to run the city so far into the ground that now, the state may end up appointing an emergency manager to control the forever-ailing city's finances. Some now fear that the man Governor Rick Snyder has in mind just might be a white person, making him the first white leader Detroit has had in over 40 years.

As mayor, Kilpatrick accepted everything from vacations to luxury vehicles all in the behest of taxpayers. Two other men, father Bernard Kilpatrick and friend Bobby Furguson were also convicted in aiding to Kilpatrick's lifestyle.

Detroit has had one of the worst raps of any city for too many years. Some cry that it needs a white mayor, but with an 85% black population, the city will end up more corrupt if that were to happen. Personally, I think Dennis Archer was one of the best mayors the city has had in 40 years, giving the city new stadiums, casinos and jobs. Kwame accomplished nothing as mayor except run the city into the ground to the point that now, we all will have to pay the price.

Kwame, don't drop the soap.
