Fifty years ago, Amos Muzyad Yakhoob Kairouz had a dream.
He was a struggling comic in Detroit living paycheck to paycheck when he walked into a Catholic church. After being moved by the service, he gave them his last $7 and prayed to St. Jude in hopes of making it big. He promised him that if he did, he'd make a shrine to him.
And he kept his word.
By 1962, he had made it big, thanks to the popular sitcom Make Room For Daddy and as a producer of shows like The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show. So, Amos - better-known to you and me as Danny Thomas - teamed up with several doctors to create St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. In the 50 years St. Jude's been helping children in need, not one family that's walked through its doors has ever had to pay one dime for treatment.
Twenty-one years after Thomas' death, St. Jude's legacy survives thanks to their team of dedicated doctors who work to keep the dreams of young children alive, and yes, Danny's daughter, Marlo. It was 50 years ago this year that St. Jude's Hospital was founded, and Mr. Thomas should be up there, smiling at the legacy it's left.
It's too bad that the woman helping to celebrate St. Jude's half-century is the woman whose father damn near killed America.
Last week, NBC's ratings-starved Today show honored the hospital through a bunch of segments called "Thanks and Giving". And guess who narrated those segs? None other than the great reporter Jenna Bush Hagar. One of the most-eerie of those segments just happened to show Bush sitting next to Mrs. Phil Donohue smiling at each other. That's right! The woman whose father helped thousands of children in his lifetime sitting next to the bitch hired only because of her last name whose father made it worse.
You see, this is one big reason why Today is now Good Morning America's bitch. NBC should have never hired Jenna in the first place. True, NBC parent GE made a lot of the weapons used in Bush's fake wars that cost our country billions, but since ABC is owned by Disney, which does a better job of making kids movies over making war weapons, maybe that's why GMA's taking over.
In all, if NBC ever wants to win the morning battle, they gotta fire the wrong people. Ann Curry shouldn't have been the one; it should have been Dubya's drunk barslut daughter. Having her honor a prestigious organization like St. Jude's is like Hitler's son doing a tribute to the Jewish.
And while they're at it, they need to shitcan the moron who honored Kloe Kardashian's mom's boobs over 9/11 also.
