OK, so I'm a few weeks late with this one, but hey, it was July 4th week last week.

Yes, kids, TBN is in even more hot water (and since the mainstream media's been ignorant towards this issue unlike the PTL scandal of the 1980's, I better handle this). This time, one of the granddaughters of the founders of the religious network is saying in a lawsuit that she was raped at age 13 and the network threw her under the bus.

Carra Crouch - now 19 - claims that she was raped six years ago by a TBN staffer and was not allowed to even call the police to avoid scandal for the goody-two-shoes network. According to the lawsuit that she filed against the religious broadcaster, a 30-year-old man who worked for the company allured her with alcohol and violently raped her. One day, Crouch was in her hotel room when the employee - whom she knew for years - came into her room and ordered some wine (and for some reason, TBN purchases alcohol for their employees during business meetings). He made her drink the wine and she did, but then she asked him to leave. However, he then gave her what she thought was water to cheer her up, but the water turned out to be a date rape drug. She passed out immediately, and ended up waking up the next day with the man next to her with blood on the sheets and severe soreness in various places in her body. She locked herself in the bathroom and screamed for the man to leave her room.

Thankfully, the man was indeed fired, but TBN did not report the incident to authorities in fear that it would ruin its reputation. Even worse, Carra's grandmother, TBN co-founder Jan Crouch ended up screaming at her, saying that it was "her fault" that she ended up raped. Under federal law, even knowing about a child being raped must be reported under the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. The suit claims that Crouch has suffered tremendous emotional distress because her grandparents, TBN co-founders Paul and Jan Crouch did not allow her to even talk to a counselor.

Carra's sister, Brittney Koper filed her own lawsuit against the channel not long ago, claiming that her grandparents regularly use TBN's money to purchase high-end items such as mansions, cars and even a house for Jan's dogs. The suit also mentions that the network has had its share of sex scandals, all covered up to protect its reputation.

Koper and Carra Crouch are the daughters of Paul Crouch, Jr., the son of Paul and Jan, who co-founded TBN in 1973 with Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. The Bakkers and Crouches had a feud, and the Bakkers left to form PTL in 1976. Like what TBN is facing now, PTL was ravaged with numerous sex and money scandals, which brought the ministry down in 1990.

Several years ago, TBN had another scandal when a man claimed that Paul Crouch forced him to have sex with him in order to keep his job. After the allegations were made, Crouch ended up settling the case out of court for $400,000 to avoid in his words, "a long and embarrassing trial".

Ya know, this is one good reason why I avoid spending my money on anything having to do with religion. Just about every business having to do with it has its problems, and it's all because of the wealthy assholes who run it. Hell, I know of one well-known Christian-based business in Grand Rapids where most of the employees haven't had raises since Bush's first term in office and yet, the owner goes on vacation every other month, has millions of dollars in properties and is an alcoholic. It's that type of pompous mentality that prevents people like me from wanting to practice organized religion in the first place. It's a scam, plain and simple.

I feel sorry for Carra Crouch, being born into such a huge family of assholes that choose breaking biblical principle for money instead of protecting their own. Paul and Jan Crouch should be fucking ashamed of themselves for allowing their own granddaughter to be raped and letting her suffer for it. I hope that one day, the mainstream media will finally grow a pair and expose the Crouches for who they really are: a bunch of jerks who make millions off of pimping Jesus.

One day, Paul and Jan will learn that the only Biblical verse that matters is Austin 3:16.
